At Inside Texas, we’ve broken down a lot of reasons Texas went 5-7 last year. There’s that botched defensive offseason install. Youth. A self-immolating high volume offense that treated 3rd down like Nahlin treats a Denny’s restroom after midnight. Poor staff accountability. Questionable player development. Disorganization. Horrendous special teams. Bad luck.

But there’s another reason that we’ll be reminded of starting this Thursday.

Texas is likely to have one player selected in the 2017 NFL Draft. Junior RB D’onta Foreman.

That’s it. And it’s both a symptom and a cause of 5-7.

A denuded senior class lacked talent and no other junior had the star power for early entry. But we do have some intriguing guys that could fight their way into drawing a paycheck playing some football. Let’s break it down:
