After a disappointing loss to Kent State, Shaka Smart spoke with the media about what his team needs to focus on as they start Big 12 play this Friday at Kansas State.
Texas scored a season high 96 points and had five players go for double figures as the Longhorns were able to put away the UAB Blazers, 96-60. Sophomore Tevin Mack led the Longhorns in scoring, going for 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Freshmen Jarrett Allen and Andrew Jones each had 16 points, with Allen pulling down 6 rebounds and Jones pulling down 5. Seniors Shaquille Cleare and Kendall Yancy had 10 and 14 points apiece to lead the Longhorns to an easy victory.
This past weekend was my first experience covering the UIL State Championships. I had attended the two 6A title games in Houston last year, but I was sitting with Eric in the stands rather than up in the booth. This year, I made the trek to AT&T Stadium to see the best of the state face off. There were a few blowouts, a few great games and a lot of D1 talent on the field. SAN ANTONIO — Friday night I traveled to Heroes Stadium in San Antonio to catch up with 2018 four-star twins Joshua and Jordan Moore.
Junior running back D’Onta Foreman will forego his senior season and enter the 2017 NFL Draft, Foreman told reporters on Wednesday. Foreman, a Doak Walker Award finalist, Heisman candidate and holder of the Texas record for most consecutive games played with over 100 rushing yards leaves Texas after rushing for 2782 yards and 20 touchdowns in three seasons, including rushing for 2028 yards in 11 games during his junior season.
Following two challenging games in Brooklyn against Northwestern and Colorado, Shaka Smart’s young Longhorn basketball team had a chance to come home and get things back on the right track against a quality opponent in the UT-Arlington Mavericks. Instead, a contingent of traveling Maverick students in the upper deck were able to leave the game yelling “this is our house.”
As Tom Herman entered the room for his introductory press conference, he appeared to do all the right things. He greeted Edith Royal, the widow of Texas football great Darrell Royal. He greeted DeLoss Dodds, Greg Fenves, Mike Perrin, Frank Denius, and many other Texas dignitaries.
