Media Availability Notes – 10/4/16

On Monday, Texas had several players available to the media. Today’s availability notes talks to the star linebacker concerned with leading, a defensive lineman preaching pressure, a safety talking sound technique and an offensive lineman ready to dominate.

With all the problems surrounding the Texas Longhorns defense in 2016, the offense continues to be a bright spot for the burnt orange and white. The problems for the offense may not be as apparent to fans as the issues plaguing the defense, but they still bother offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert enough to where he wants to immediately fix them.

Player Availability Notes – 9/27/16

In preparation for Saturday’s game against Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Texas had several leaders available to the team, including one who was available to the media following a weekend arrest, a quarterback trying to take another game in Boone Pickens stadium, and two defensive linemen who keep preaching pressure.

Haines, Boyette focus on communication problems, defensive coaching

Defensive coordinator Vance Bedford is currently in his third season at Texas. After fielding a defense in 2014 that stopped many of the prolific offenses of the Big 12, Bedford has seen his defense go from strong to porous. Even with a senior in Dylan Haines in his defensive backfield and Paul Boyette, Jr. on his front line, the Texas defense had multiple breakdowns in communication that lead to multiple Golden Bear scores.

Swoopes, Buechele, Perkins ready to right the ship

After a road loss to the California Golden Bears, freshman Shane Buechele and seniors Tyrone Swoopes and Kent Perkins were available to the media to discuss what the team needs to fix following their performance in Berkeley, and how the team needs to get in the right mindset prior to opening Big 12 play in Stillwater.

Patrick Vahe, Jerrod Heard, and Shane Buechele were all available to the media Monday following the 41-7 win over UTEP. All three players were asked about playing the Cal Bears, whether it was Heard reminiscing on last year’s performance, to Buechele and Vahe getting ready for their first real road test.
