In this abbreviated edition of Mondays in the Humidor we’ve got tidbits from the first day of summer workouts that included some highlights and lowlights. We’ll try to have semi-daily updates from summer workouts if possible. We’ve also got some tidbits about Texas hoops to break things up. It’s June, and things are starting to heat up (Thank goodness) at least on the sports front.
This week’s Scoop starts in Colorado with an OOS talent looking at the Horns. We add updates on a few UT targets, then look a few targets headed to Austin this weekend. A pair 5-star basketball players will be ATX bound as well. We also talk about a Louisiana native who’s eager to see Texas. All in this week’s Inside Scoop.
It might be the offseason for football, but that only means recruiting season is in full swing. Once when we hit June, the camp scene will be active and unofficials will be happening. We look at the numbers game, position-by-position for the C/O 2016, some of the latest prospects talking UT, with a quick look at the hoops roster Shaka Smart inherited for 2015-16.
The Texas staff was on the road again this week, evaluating prospects, building relationships, and handing out offers. We also go over all of Shaka Smart’s offers while in Austin We look over the newer invitations as well as check in on a few current commits headed to prestigious all-star games and more in this edition of the Inside Scoop.
Shaka lands his first in Austin. The Longhorns received the commitment of 6-foot-6 wing Tevin Mack of Columbia, SC today when Mack picked Texas over the Georgia Bulldogs, Kansas Jayhawks, and the UConn Huskies.
Texas goes hunting for wide receivers in Florida, tight ends in Colorado, athletes in East Texas, and the coolest name in recruiting. Tons of recruiting activity from the Texas staff on Monday so here’s the rundown from Justin Wells and Eric Nahlin.
In this edition of Mondays in the Humidor with the Big Cigar we’ve got a variety of information especially in light of the time of year. We’ll dabble a bit in recruiting as a Cigar with ties to a prospect who’s almost impossible to get ahold of, drops us a dime. Our sources inside the program have also provided some intel on voluntary (read mandatory) 7-on-7 work this past week. Warning, some names may surprise. We’ll have some scouting information on a possible commit to Shaka Smart and the analog given may have the less discriminating hoops fan doing a double face-palm, while those with a bit more critical thinking ability as it applies to the game of basketball will see the value Smart is adding.
We talk to the guru of Texas defensive backs, touch base in Louisiana, and check on a few of the newest UT offers. We also preview Texas targets at the ETSN Combine, and drop a Tevin Mack update. All in the Scoop.
In this edition of Mondays in the Humidor there still isn’t much to sink your teeth into with spring practice going the way of the dinosaurs, or professional hockey ratings. The Cigar does have the goods on some coaching takes which are always interesting. The Cigar also talks a little about what Shaka Smart may be have brewing from a scheme standpoint, which may scare those not in the know currently, but in reality it’s not as bad as most think. Apart from football and hoops, there’s not much worth mentioning in these dog days prior to summer, inside the Humidor.
New offers go out, new targets identified, and we talk to a few of the state’s best defenders. Got a few team nuggets, and talk to a 5-star’s father. We also have a hoops update on the roster and Tevin Mack. All in the Scoop.
