Shaka Smart was both today as he was announced as the new Men’s Basketball coach at Texas.
In Smart, Texas nabbed a 37-year-old, rising star who took Virginia Commonwealth to the 2011 Final Four in just his third season. The Rams recorded five straight upsets during that run, including top-seed Kansas.

The Rick Barnes era may at last be coming to an end. Although I was a native-born Texan (Houston), my family moved around to multiple spots when I was young and I arrived in Austin with no collegiate allegiances.
