AUSTIN -- The Vandegrift Vipers are in just their second season as an UIL 6A athletic program after being in 5A for the rest of their existence. This places them in a district with some of the best teams in Central Texas, including Westlake and Lake Travis. There’s tough basketball competition in this district, but the Vipers have one of the best sophomores in the nation to help them in their battles in forward Greg Brown III.

AUSTIN -- Just days after Texas Basketball landed its first verbal pledge for the Class of 2018, No. 2 dropped this evening. Cibolo Steele 4-star small forward/wing Gerald Liddell committed to Shaka Smart and the Longhorns over offers from Arizona, UCLA, Kansas, Baylor, Cal, and SMU.
With several top basketball talents in the Austin area this cycle, Shaka Smart saw no need to travel outside Austin to address his need on the wing. 2018 Westlake F Brock Cunningham committed to Texas today over offers from Oklahoma, Gonzaga and Missouri among others.
