RL and I were posting about this last night. I wonder where VMI would rank in 330 teams.....I would guess about 150. I don't think Gillespie is a good fit at a high profile program........I wonder if he is hitting the sauce again? He is about to wear out his welcome real fast.

To put VMI's "athletic prowess" in perspective, they would be comparable to say Army, yet on the 1-AA level. IOW, VMI sucks! Their football team lost this weekend to Stony Brook...I repeat...Stony Brook! Yet in basketball they just SOUNDLY defeated UK...and in Rupp Arena...stunning! :-O:-O:-O

They live and die by the three and have had some good players of late... Gillespie probably did not realize what he was getting into when they scheduled
this "patsy". They were one of the top scoring teams in the country because they literally run up and down the floor.

How far into the future are NCAA Basketball schedules setup? IOW, would Gillespie really have scheduled this game, or would it have already been scheduled by someone else, earlier?

I think most schedules are set up on a year by year deal unless it is a PAC 10 vs Big 12 deal. The major schools will have 2-4 year deals all of the time but a school like VMI ......I will guarentee was set up to get a win by Billy G this year..........

I spent last basketball season in Lexington, and Billy Clyde had quickly established his affinity for whiskey and women. While that seemed to stick in the craw of some, his losing to Gardner-Webb created far greater heartburn. If he can learn to field a winner, he'll be loved, regardless of his off the court exploits. If there are many more GW's and VMI's, he may have a hard time finding anyone to sell him a good drink of whiskey, much less secure a worthy woman.

I have heard the same rumors. Do you think he has a clause in his contract about DUI's etc......I know it took a long time to get the contract signed by all parties. This guy is an AD's nightmare......I know Rick Barnes is not perfect but from a human being stand point he is head and shoulders above this character.

Austinr, I was told he had been provided drivers to guard against DUI's. Those narrow Kentucky roads are nowhere to be after drinking. Best to sit on the back porch until you pass out and sleep it off. Funny you mention Barnes. When I said I was from UT, almost everyone said Barnes was the coach they really wanted.

Don't tell the aggies that. They swear to this day that Barnes was never offered the job.
