I've never used them before, and given this news, hopefully never will -- but I sure hope this doesn't catch on with any other carriers:

If Spirit Airlines new fee catches on with the major airlines I may give up flying altogether in the continental US. X-(

I've already given up flying as much as possible. Of course it helps to be retired. The wife is always wanting to fly to Mexico or Europe or anywhere foreign and expensive. I counter by stonewalling and suggesting somewhere in driving distance.
