Anyone ever spent any time there? I have to go there on a business trip in April for 8 days. Any suggestions on things to do?

Bethesda? As in Maryland? My now hometown after moving from Austin 12 years ago.
What is there to do in Bethesda? Restaurants, and ... restaurants. Nightlife, not really. Bethesda sits on a Metro site, and it's built up dramatically in the past 12 years since I've been here. It is one of the "go to" local places for dinner, but outside of a good meal no need to spend nightlife time in Bethesda.
If you're staying "downtown" Bethesda, then you're a Metro ride away to DC, which has a plethora of sights. Free museums, monuments, memorials, lots of bars, you name it, it's in DC. Adam's Morgan has become the go to place to hang out and people watch, nightlife, etc.
Let me know what you're looking for, and I'll see if I can connect you http://insidetexas.com/forums/images/icons/icon6.gif
If it's another Bethesda, disregard ...
I was born there, at the Naval Hospital, when my dad (USMC) was stationed in D.C. after returning from his government sponsored vacation in southeast Asia.
I haven't been back, however, in 33 years since.

TLFBethesda is basically a bedroom community, though there is some business in the downtown area. There's not much to see in Bethesda proper. Take the Metro down the the Mall in DC. Cherry blossoms may still be in bloom if you are luck. Georgetown is worth a visit if you've never been there. Places like DuPont Circle, and Adams Morgan are worth seeing -- might be an eye opener for a Texas boy. Museums are in DC -- take your pick. Parking is hard downtown. It's much better to take the Metro. Get a city map that shows the stops.

I'll second going to DC and especially seeing some of the Smithsonian. I think there are 11 buildings housing the Smith. so you won't see it all in 8 days.
