Not long after Rick Barnes turned down an offer from Kentucky in the spring of 2007, he called his assistants together for an expanding-of-the-minds meeting. Barnes told them if they had moved to one of college basketball’s legendary addresses, they would have believed that they could go into any area of the country after any player and believe they had a shot at signing him. In essence, Barnes said he believed the Texas program was on the same level as Kentucky, and that his assistants should think the same way when they hit the recruiting trail.

Texas guard Brittainey Raven saw something different about Erika Arriaran when the Longhorns started practice earlier this semester. Instead of just launching up 3-pointers, Arriaran was dribbling and driving. Creating her own shot. Nailing 15-footers.
