It's about all he's got left at this point.

Politics is a wonderful occupation, isn't it.

And if he was in the GOP, they'd do the same. They're all going to protect their own like a bunch of incestual jackals.

Why some people trust these filthy politicians to spend our money more wisely than we could spend it ourselves, I’ll never understand.

The big question, who can qualify to cast the first stone at Rangel?

I guess that depends on whether they think Rangel has anything on them.

Coming from a Dem, I think the guy has long abused is office for personal gain and should be censored in some way, shape, or form. I hope his constituents boot him out has he's been in Congress too long.

What good will censure do? Somehow I don't think getting a sheet of paper that says he's been bad is going to hurt his feelings one bit. How about his colleagues booting him from Congress? His constituents will probably gladly elect him to another term.

My understanding is that one of the common effects of censure is loss of chairmanship in any committees he may be in. That's a serious loss of power in Congress.
I agree if he's guilty they should boot him out, but censure isn't just a slap on the wrist.

For the House to kick him out, the charges have to be more serious, like corruption.
There are other other punishments other than expulsion that can effectively end his career. But, as is the case most of the time, it's up to the constituents
to boot out a loser like this. Of course, I find that the average voter - on both sides of the isle - is usually apathetic and uninformed.

That's crap.
When that faggot GOP congressman sent provocative emails to a page, the GOP booted him out.
When Dem Congressman Gerry Stubbs had mutant butt sex with a page, he returned to the House and got a freakin' standing ovation from his fellow Dims.

Evidently Maxine Waters is about to undergo her own ethics investigation, you can bet both will blame it on racism.

What that loser David Vitter had sex with prostitutes, the GOP...did nothing. When Mark Sanford ran off to Argentina to screw around on his wife, the GOP...did nothing. When Jon Ensign had an affair, the GOP...did nothing.
Spare us the sanctimonious crap, NA.
PS The Dems are actually holding Rangel's feet to the fire pretty well. The tendency would be to sweep this under the rug, but they have not done so. They didn't allow him to simply plead to "poor judgement", which while not tidy would have ended it, but they didn't.
I'd like to see the guy shown the door, myself.

C'mon JG! I expect better from you. If someone new to this board were to see this attempt, they would think that you were an ineffective partisan hack. While the examples of the actions of the GOP members you listed are shameful, what Rangel is accused of is a horse of a totally different color. Last time I checked infidelity is not illegal.

Last I checked, visiting a prostitute was illegal, except in a few counties in Nevada.
Of course, we could talk about thugs like Tom Delay and Bob Ney...

JG excuses mutant butt sex between Dims and under age interns.
Would you expect anything less from him ?

I don't excuse it. Unlike you, I expect professional, ethical, and moral behavior from ALL public officeholders, not just those of the other party.
PS Your obsession with gays is laughable. Do you wake up sweating at night, realizing that you were dreaming of doing Barney Frank?
PSS I thought you were supposed to be ignoring me anyway. What happened?

And now . . . Maxine Waters too. Bad timing for the fall elections.
