Default Question for anyone that lives in BFE north of Dallas

Preston Road/289 basically goes all the way to the Oklahoma border & I'm thinking of making a day out of riding up there later this year. What's the road condition like north of Celina? Is it asphalt, chipseal, something else? Are there shoulders on the road? What's traffic like?

Now I have not lived in Dallas in years, but what about scouting it out first in person??

Mr. Obvious here not trying to be a smart ass.

Maybe you weren't but a good comeback had you been trying.

That's what I did yesterday, the route actually looks promising. I'm trying to get a group together for the end of October to make the trek, it's about 116 miles round-trip.

BWG - given the distance, how do you replenish hydration and food? Carry all with you or have a "chase car" follow you? Camelbak?

I pulled up Google map and was looking at the route and it seemed feasible to just make the drive and scout it out.

Then I realized that once I typed the statement that it seemed that I was trying to be a smart ass-normally that is not me.

For nutrition I use a product called Infinit, it's a customizable powder you mix with water. I can fit 3-4 hours worth of nutrition in a single bottle, so I'll just carry a couple bottles of it & wear a Camelbak for my water. The route I've put together has a couple of gas stations along the way so we won't go more than ~30 miles between spots to re-fill on water, gatorade, etc.

Dumb question, perhaps, but what does "BFE" stand for?

It was always Butt F*cking Egypt with everyone I knew that said it. I guess there are multiple versions, but Augusta, it's just a term to mean somewhere far away.

Same thing. Bum is synonymous with butt. It's not quite as crude and BWG is less apt to get wood at the mere mention.
