Week in review: Swept Saturday doubleheader, lost Sunday at home vs. Duke. On Saturday, Texas swept a doubleheader against Duke, 4-0 and 5-3. In the makeup of Friday's postponed game, Fr. 2B Brooks Marlow (2-for-3, 3 RBI) homered twice for Texas against first-team preseason All-American Marcus Stroman (5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 3 K), who was uncharacteristically wild. Nathan Thornhill (5 IP, 3 H, 0 R) earned the start and the victory in that one. Hoby Milner (5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER) picked up the win in the nightcap, as Mark Payton (3-for-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI) paced the Longhorns' offense out of the leadoff spot. On Sunday, the Longhorns were upset. The Blue Devils took a 3-0 lead through three innings against Fr. RHP John Curtiss (3 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K), and Duke So. RHP Robert Huber (6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K) kept the Longhorns in check. One bright spot for Texas: Fr. RHP Ricky Jacquez (5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K) delivered strong relief.
