2020 Democratic Primaries

With the mid-terms over, the primary season is now underway. Donna Brazile has said the Dems have a field over over 30 candidates but that Hillary Clinton wasn’t one of them. Did Hillary get the memo?

In a bad beat for those of us hoping for a good show, Michael Avenetti has blown himself up and ended his campaign.

But not to worry, we still have Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Bernie, Pocahontas, Spartacus and the rest of the gang. It should be great fun.

I look forward to a dozen or so center-left establishment Democrats trying to out-do each other proving how woke they are in a ridiculous race to the left. The entertainment is just getting started.

It would have been funny if her second word started with U...cause that would have spelled FUPA with the beginning letter of each phrase.

So the future would have been FUPA. I don't like that future at all.

    The fireworks have already started.

This week Kamala Harris has to severe ties with a long-time aide who had previously settle a sexual misconduct claim to the tune of $400k. This was assumed to be a leak from a rival 2020 Dem hopeful. Harris claims she didn’t know. Others doubt that.

In Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren continues to take on water from on the left from the most spectacular self-immolation since Howard Dean shape-shifted into a werewolf on the campaign stump. The most influential opinion broker on her home turf, The Boston Globe Editorial Board, is now cautioning her not to run.

What will the next week bring?

So, if Beto was to transition, then would he become the automatic front-runner?

  6. HelmetBoy

HelmetBoy Member Who Talks (A Lot!)

Beto to transition? From an Irishman to Hispanic?

Beto as of late has been sustaining attacks from the Bernie socialist left as being a Neoliberal centrist with no bold progressive agenda. A charismatic empty suit, which is interesting. He certainly comes off as vacuous in debates and has shown little substance on policy matters so far. We’ll see what “lane” he chooses for himself.

He’s already spent almost all of his huge war chest but the big Dem donors are already lining up for his inevitable presidential run. He has a Trump/Obama quality in that his supporters see in him whatever it is they want to see. That portends well for him given the age of cult of personality politics.

Destroying Beto is not a job for "principled conservatives". But you will do a great job narrating our defeat.

    LOL

Lose two elections with ****ty candidates to a popular black Dem and every boomer pisses down his pants.

I was trying to make a joke in response to Gillibrand's comment about the Dem future being female.

Apparently, not a very good one.

It’ll be interesting to see who the media selects for half of America to vote for.

I think I’d have Harris as the favorite.

Pretty much sums up the stable of wannabe's. A sad commentary on a list of prospects to lead our Country as POTUS. Not sure we are fairing any better on the Pub side either. Trump will probably be the man of choice, and if the Dems nominee is from the above group, not sure they will offer much of a challenge. I do think Sanders or Biden will be the front runners, the others are pawns. Beto couldn't win in Texas, even after spending an ungodly amount of money, why so in the USA.

Kind of my thought. I don't know that he'd win but I think the results might surprise. He's running on the I am a hispanic, man of the people, skate board riding great hair ala Macron and Trudeau platform.

Kamala Harris scores the highest on the intersectional scale of oppression victimization so it's her obviously. Unless Linda Sarsour runs or a maybe a non-LDS trans Pacific Islander.

I can’t. He’s just cool, there is no substance. The only reason to vote for him is if you like the billionaire that funds him, cause the billionaire is the real guy in charge.

I disagree. Obama had been a legislator at state and federal level for over a decade. He was an accomplished lawyer and professor. He is a very smart man.

Obama spent a lunch break in the senate and spent most of that time campaigning for President or voting "Present" so as not to make any tough votes that could come back to bite him. He was more of a marketing campaign than anything else. Keep saying "Hope and Change" and get the media behind you and the uninformed will dutifully go goo goo gah gah and show up in droves to vote you in.

  34. 40A

This is a tad disingenuous. He was a successful community organizer before he was gifted the Senate and did nothing before leaving early to run for President.

Mike Ditka kicks himself for not running against Obama for the Illinois senate seat and preventing him for claiming the WH 4 years later.

He was a community organizer for 3 years. He spent more time as a banker in NYC than that. He was a professor for many more years and was in the IL legislature for almost a decade.

    Correction.
He was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chicago.
The "Professor" title is considered a honorific/generic title bestowed on anyone who taught classes.
Obama was a completely manufactured candidate who ran on his talents (oratory skills, packaging and "participation" positions) rather than actual actions and accomplishments.

I work with someone in State Legislature. It means next to nothing.

The only thing on Obama's resume that prepared him for the Presidency, and that would support your opinion, was his term in the Senate which he eschewed for a Presidential run.

Funny enough, Beto would probably do the same thing to run in 2020, but thank goodness he was screwed of the Obama path.

  40. UTGrad91

But will he take the Lincoln path, lose a senate election (1858) and then two years later win the Presidency. In today's Dem party it's all about style over substance and Beto is the cool cat, the fact that he's never done anything is irrelevant.
