Big 12 Rematch Game:
Texas’ final game of the year is a home date against the visiting Baylor Bears.

Baylor won the initial game, 74-64, in Waco. Find the full Baylor hoops preview here.

Texas Keys: Offense

Davis, Isom, Yancy and Young. Texas’ three point shooters have hovered between bad and awful for much of the year. These four all make up the Longhorns’ highest percentage perimeter shooters (in that three pointers make up a higher percentage of their total shots than the rest of the team). Tragically, Davis, Yancy and Young all sit beneath 29% from deep (Isom is at 4-9). If those guys make up your designated shooters, a zone (particuarly a good one like Baylor’s) is going to cause trouble. But this is the last game, right? The last time the seniors lace ‘em up in the Erwin Center. The last chance to build whatever shred of momentum is still possible. 35% or above, yada, yada, yada.

Texas Keys: Defense

Throw different looks at Motley. Motley’s 30/20 game in Waco was one of the best performances by any player all season. It was also an extension of what the Bear big man was able to do against UT last season. Shaka tried to pick up Motley in one-on-one situations and Motley made them pay. Jarrett got outmuscled. Shaq got outquicked. James fouled out in 12 minutes. This time Texas is going to have to switch some things up and attempt to throw some different looks at him. Early doubles (from top/wing/other block) will be key. So will making him attack from the middle of the lane and not the baseline where he can have more space. How Motley is handled will be crucial for Texas in this game.

The Endgame

We’re close, friends. We’re close.
