Typically when you look at numbers offensive players will dominate, but the top effort for the 19 Texas commits was the superb outing by Haltom defensive end Reggie Wilson Friday night.

In Haltom’s 21-14 loss to North Crowley, Wilson was officially credited with 4.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, four quarterback pressures and he nearly intercepted a screen pass as his defensive effort energized Haltom and kept the Buffalos in the game.

Wilson and the Buffalos may not have won (SeeHuge Night for Texas Commit Still Ends in Loss), but both Texas quarterback commits were victorious over the weekend with Connor Wood leading Houston Second Baptist to a 25-9 victory over Houston Lutheran North while Case McCoy and Graham continued to stay undefeated after a 21-10 win over Glen Rose.

Wood put together one of his finest outings of the season completing 16 of 28 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns against no interceptions. McCoy has put up better numbers in games this year but he did run for a touchdown and throw for another on a 10-for-22 night throwing the football for 146 yards.

Cayuga running back Traylon Shead helped the Wildcats to a 23-2 win over Price Carlisle but Shead’s carries were limited by Cayuga head coach Tommy Allison as Shead bounces back from an ankle injury suffered against Kerens. Shead had only 10 carries but he did rush for 67 yards and had a 46-yard touchdown reception in the win.

Daingerfield was on the losing end of a highly anticipated game against Class 3A No. 1 Gilmer, 43-20, but Texas commit Chris Jones still managed to have a strong outing with five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown while adding 43 yards and another score on the ground.

Darius TerrellAdrian White and DeSoto keep on trucking through the 2009 season, netting a 56-35 win over Flower Mound. Terrell had 121 yards receiving on seven catches and a touchdown in the victory while White had a fumble recovery in the win.

John Harris continues to guide the offensive attack for Garland Naaman Forest as the Rangers’ quarterback. Harris led the Rangers to a Thursday night 34-14 win over Lakeview Centennial by rushing for 66 yards, passing for 114 and accounting for two touchdowns in the win.

The two offensive line commits for the Horns each had big weeks in helping their respective teams score big wins. Cedar Park opened up District 16-5A play with a road win against Georgetown as Dominic Espinosa and the Timberwolves’ offensive line paved the way for the rushing attack that racked up 414 yards in the win.

Galena Park North Shore ran quite a bit behind Texas commit Trey Hopkins in its 28-15 win over Southlake Carroll in a battle of state ranked Class 5A ball clubs as the Mustangs piled up 288 hard-earned yards in a win over the Dragons (SeeHopkins and North Shore Win Long-Anticipated Carroll Matchup).

Alief Taylor suffered its first loss of the season with a 29-28 setback against Houston Stratford as DeAires Cotton and the Taylor defense surrendered 391 total yards to the Spartans.

Denton Guyer opened up district play and continued to show why it is one of the top 4A teams in the state with a 62-13 win over The Colony. Taylor Bible and the Guyer defense limited The Colony to just 53 yards on the ground.

John Tyler continues to dominate the competition on its ascent back to being a state power and got a 70-6 win over Lewisville as Ashton Dorsey and the defense held the Farmers to under 180 yards of total offense and 11 first downs in the game.

Houston St. Pius X fell to Sealy 45-24 as Greg Daniels and the defense for the Panthers gave up 470 yards to the Tiger offense.

Garland posted a 17-13 win over South Garland with Tevin JacksonAdrian Phillips and the back seven for the Owl defense holding the Colonels to just 53 yards passing. Phillips added 23 yards of total offense on three touches in the ball game.

Bryant Jackson had 81 yards on five punt returns and also hauled in three passes for 47 yards and Sulphur Springs dominated Longview Pine Tree, 45-7. Carrington Byndom and the Lufkin defense forced six turnovers as the Panthers followed up a huge win over Longview with a 28-14 win over Mesquite.
