Traylon Shead is now one step closer to asserting himself as one of the greatest running backs in the history of Texas high school football.
Not only did the Texas commit have one of the best weeks of any 2010 Longhorn commit in week seven of the Texas high school football season with 269 yards and four touchdowns but he also moved into second place on the state’s all-time rushing list.
Shead’s yardage total after a dominating 66-0 win for Cayuga over Cushing moved him past former Corpus Christi Calallen star Wes Danaher and into second place on the state’s all-time rushing list with 8,885 yards. The only man Shead now trails is Texas prep legend Kenneth Hall, whose 11,232 yards stands as not only the state record but the national record.
The four touchdowns scored by Shead still have him in fifth place on the state’s all-time list but he is now just six scores shy of passing both Hall and former Texas All-American Cedric Benson for third place.
After subpar performances that yielded victories in week six, both Texas quarterback commits had big efforts to go along with wins in week seven.

The Horns two remaining defensive tackle commits had some close calls Friday night.
