SALT LAKE CITY, UT — In an extremely deep and talented pool of prospects headed to Texas from its Class of 2018, the must-need offensive tackle just made the rich get richer.
Senior 4-Star OT and Army All-American Sione “Junior” Angilau committed to Texas tonight. Angilau chose UT over offers from Oregon, USC, UCLA, and Utah. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound mauler is highly athletic for an offensive lineman. He visited Texas twice in the past seven months, with an official a couple weeks ago vs Texas Tech.
His family plays a major role in his life, with the chance of them moving to Texas soon. He’s also cousins with UT OG Patrick Vahe.
His fit in Austin – Evaluations:
Sione Angilau Jr – HUDL
6-foot-5, 300 pounds, Salt Lake City East HS (Utah)
“It’s hard not to get excited when an offensive linemen names his highlight video “all my victims” and the following tape does not disappoint. He’s a pure mauler and despite his height, he projects inside at guard.
He’s pretty good on the move and can find linebackers at the second level, particularly on a straight ahead zone path, he’ll probably be at his best on inside zone and counter where he’ll have opportunities to displace DL on the line of scrimmage. He’s some kind of powerful and could probably play early in his career, much like fellow Islander Patrick Vahe before him.” – IB
Angilau becomes the 19th member of Texas’ 2018 class joining D’Shawn Jamison (Houston Lamar), Rafiti Ghirmai (Frisco Wakeland), Malcolm Epps (Spring DeKaney), Keondre Coburn (Spring Westfield), Brennan Eagles (Alief Taylor), Jalen Green (Heights), Al’Vonte Woodard (Lamar), Rondale Moore (Louisville, KY), BJ Foster (Angleton), Ayodele Adeoye (Overland, MO), DeMarvion Overshown (Arp), Keaontay Ingram (Carthage), Caden Sterns (Cibolo Steele), Cameron Dicker (Lake Travis), Reese Moore (Seminole), Cameron Rising (Newbury Park, CA), Casey Thompson (Newcastle, OK), Byron Hobbs (FW Eastern Hills).
