AUSTIN — On an evening with Stars at Night shining over DKR, Texas landed it’s first pledge of 2019.

One of the best in Texas, QB Roschon Johnson, became member No. 1 for UT’s Class of 2019.

The 6-foot-1, 192-pound playmaker from Port Neches-Groves held offers from Florida State, Ohio State, OU, and USC among the 20+ offers.

Excerpt from the Recruiting Notebook:

Just take a look at this dual-threat out of the pocket, and you’ll see why Tom Herman made him a clear priority since taking over in Austin.

Fast, moves around the pocket, great on the outside running and throwing, he’s an ideal spread QB for the Herman regime. His arm strength and mechanics need tinkering, but he’s the explosive, dynamic ball-handler Herman covets similar to Greg Ward Jr. and JT Barrett.

Johnson adds that to UT’s QB room in the summer of 2019.

Johnson is the first commitment for UT’s Class of 2018. The 4-star is a pretty great start.
