Texas basketball’s Andrew Jones was diagnosed with Leukemia in January. After months of treatment and progress that both Jones and UT has shared publicly, Texas head coach Shaka Smart issued another piece of good news Thursday.
Smart said in a statement that Jones was approved to enroll in web-based coursework for Summer I. Jones is still receiving treatment, but it serves as another positive step on the Irving native’s path back onto the basketball court.
“He will move into a dorm room, which will allow him to have a home base here during the times he is on campus,” Smart said. “It will be great to have him around more, as he continues his fight.”
