Sometimes a cycle’s best crops align perfectly with UT’s needs and the yield is high. 2015 defensive backs and 2016 defensive tackles come to mind. Other times, finding players who fit UT’s needs are much harder to come by, as is the case with 2017 cornerbacks.
It’s still early in the cycle and some real gems will be tilled over the coming months, but at this point, we’re in the midst of a severe drought. Previously I opined the staff should look out of state for corners in this class. I figured I’d find some Texas worthy talent few knew about, but after looking at about 30 prospects, that just isn’t the case. Hopefully I’m just not seeing players clearly, but I don’t think that’s the case.
