Despite big losses on all three levels of defense I think it’s possible Texas can improve on 2017’s defense by simply limiting big-play coverage busts. With experience across the board in the secondary there shouldn’t be any excuses about not being the same page.
Though experienced, Todd Orlando does have some important pieces to replace. The staff lost Holton Hill and Deshon Elliott to the NFL a year early. Much less talked about, but also important is replacing Jason Hall who was a big reason the dime package worked so well last season.
Even with those losses the staff will field a highly experienced line-up with four senior starters, as well as a junior, when in dime. With a group he can trust and with a second off-season in the scheme we should see even more tricks out of Orlando.
