In this edition of Mondays in the Humidor we don’t have much new news to draw upon so we’re going to draw parallels between the two new coaches heading the big two men’s programs, hoops and football. There are some behind the scenes similarities that are rather interesting, and some issues that both Coach Strong and Coach Smart have had to endure in their short time on the 40 acres. The good news is that a lot of the “issues” seem to be getting fixed even if it’s not in the time frame some Longhorn fans would be satisfied with.
In this tidbit version of Monday’s in the Humidor we’ve got you covered on the most important stories in the Longhorn sports cosmos. The news is good on all fronts (hoops and football) even if the volume of news is sparse. Punches are being landed on and off the field and that’s a good thing for Texas even if it’s not a Texas sized Humidor.
In this abbreviated version of Monday’s in the Humidor we’ll deal in football hypotheticals with El Cohiba Grande based on where he thinks the staff is coming from out of Spring ball. We’ll also talk a little bit about the Jai Lucas hire and how important it was to lock up the young coach for recruiting purposes. It’s May, so we’re once again in limbo, inside the Humidor.
In this edition of Mondays with El Cohiba Grande we’re all about post-Spring depth charts and what it means as we head into Summer ball and beyond. The Big Cigar has provided us with a look at three- and four-deep on both sides of the ball so there's something for everyone to chew on as we head inside the Humidor.
In this edition of Mondays in the Humidor we’re going to attempt to put a bow on the second season that is Texas Spring football. The Cigar has taken the straw poll and we’ve got the low down on what the coaches think about the Orange-White scrimmage and the spring practice sessions in general. Our source also has some tidbits on why things may be different this go ‘round in the Charlie Strong regime.
In this version of Mondays in the Humidor we’re going to go into a little more scrimmage detail after some assessments from the coaches. Our Cigars go full Rollie Massimino and give us the coaches’ takes from a position-by-position standpoint about last Saturday’s scrimmage.
In this mini version of the Humidor we have some of the coaches’ thoughts on how things are going this spring and especially how last Saturday’s scrimmage graded out at a high level. We’ll also discuss the staff’s macro thoughts on where this train is headed as we get closer to the 2016 and how they’re strategizing things for this squad. Since we spent some of our powder on the weekend’s scrimmage and on tomorrow and Thursday’s practice reports, we’ll keep things brief inside the Humidor hit you with a couple of other articles this week to make up for it.
In this post-Spring Break edition of Mondays in the Humidor we’re going to continue with the abbreviated format because there’s still a bit of a vacuum when it comes to information. We have some position by position intel and we'll get into a little bit of workout information from today because spring practices start up again tomorrow. (Speaking of which, we should have a practice report tomorrow as they’ve tweaked the practice schedule to Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).
