It is no secret that, with no disrespect to the upperclassmen, the University of Texas’ best players in 2015 were mostly freshmen. If current projections hold true, guys like John Burt, Conner Williams, Patrick Vahe, Chris Warren, Malik Jefferson, Holton Hill and Davante Davis could all have a career decision to make in January of 2018. That says nothing about the possible growth and maturation of DeShon Elliot, Anthony Wheeler and Charles Omenihu.
In truth, I don’t have anything to say until we get to DKR – Texas Memorial Stadium when the Longhorns take on Notre Dame in Week 1. I never go to press availabilities looking for the holy grail of information. I usually go to read body language, catch chatter off to the side, catch a private conversation with the person we are talking to and watch the players interact with each other.
The biggest thing out of pro day was that DT Hassan Ridgeway will probably be the only player draft from Texas in 2016. If he was not leaving Texas early with eligibility left, this would be the 2nd time in three years that Texas would have had nobody drafted.
Collin Johnson is a big man. I mean big. He's quick though, has great feet and is not a long strider. If he played for a Texas 6A high school that actually threw the ball once in a while, he could have been a Top 25 National Prospect.
