Big 12 reveals 2021 conference baseball schedule

The Big 12 announced the conference’s baseball schedule Friday, and Texas’ Big 12 slate begins March 19 in Waco versus Baylor.

Big 12 play will once again be a regular, 24-game schedule. The Big 12 Tournament will be held in Oklahoma City’s Bricktown Ballpark beginning May 26 through May 30.

Texas begins at Baylor on March 19-21. They host Oklahoma March 26-28, then travel to Lawrence to face Kansas beginning April 1-3. The Kansas State Wildcats travel to Austin for April 9-11, then Texas visits brand new O’Brate Stadium for a three-game series versus Oklahoma State in Stillwater April 23-25.

David Pierce’s team hosts Texas Tech beginning April 30 in what may be the premier matchup at UFCU Disch-Falk Field this season. Texas then is in Fort Worth for a series at TCU on May 7-9, then concludes the regular season with a series versus West Virginia beginning May 20.

The full Texas schedule has not been released, though some other dates are known. Texas will play in the State Farm College Showdown at Arlington’s Globe Life Field the weekend of February 19. They will play No. 7 Mississippi State at 11 a.m. on the 19th, No. 8 Arkansas at 7 p.m. on the 20th, and No. 6 Ole Miss at 3 p.m. on the 21st.

Other known fixtures on the Texas schedule include a three-game series at Houston beginning March 5, a three-game series in Austin versus BYU beginning February 24, a two-game midweek set versus Nevada April 13 and 14, and a mid-week trip to College Station on March 30 to play Texas A&M. 

Texas finished the 2020 season 14-3 before the remainder of the schedule was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
