Texas safety Brandon Jones was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the 3rd round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He continues a strong legacy of defensive backs to come from the University of Texas, becoming the third Longhorn defensive back in the last five seasons to be selected in the NFL Draft.
Jones played in 46 games and started in 35 during his four-year career. His best season was the most recent one when he recorded 86 tackles and two interceptions.
During his four year career, Jones played both in regular deep safety roles and as the nickel in Texas’ 3-3-5 system. He excelled in run support, often playing close to the line of scrimmage as UT’s nickel.
A member of Texas’ 2016 class, Jones was the No. 3 player in the 2016 Inside Texas top 100. Prior to Texas, Jones played at Nacogdoches High School and received All-State honors during his senior year.
