After choosing to de-commit from Georgia this morning, 2017 Langham Creek running back Toneil Carter decided to commit to Tom Herman and Texas.

Carter committed over competing offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State among others. Carter is scheduled to play in the Under Armour All-American Game in Florida. He is set to enroll early.

How he fits: Carter is plain fast, probably a 4.5 guy or so in the 40, and he’s very used to using that speed to fly through holes behind lead blockers or to work the edge on power-read plays of the sort that are surely coming to Texas in the near future. At Langham Creek he was regularly working on inside zone plays running behind an H-back and his knack for quickly finding the crease and exploding through it would make for exciting offense in Herman’s run game. He also has the hands to do some work on the perimeter like Catalon did at Houston this year, Carter is a likely feature back in the not too distant future. – IB

Carter is the 9th member of UT’s Class of 2017. He joins Joshua Rowland (MGCCC, Juco) Taquon Graham (Temple), Montrell Estell (Hooks), Kobe Boyce (Lake Dallas), Damion Miller (John Tyler), Sam Ehlinger (Austin Westlake), Lagaryonn Carson (Liberty-Eylau), and Josh Thompson (Nacogdoches).
