Texas plays its opening round game of the Big 12 Tournament tonight against Iowa State, a team they beat in both matchups this year. It sounds like the message coming out of KC is that Mohamed Bamba likely is not available for the game tonight and his status going forward in KC is also up in the air.
AUSTIN -- The Vandegrift Vipers are in just their second season as an UIL 6A athletic program after being in 5A for the rest of their existence. This places them in a district with some of the best teams in Central Texas, including Westlake and Lake Travis. There’s tough basketball competition in this district, but the Vipers have one of the best sophomores in the nation to help them in their battles in forward Greg Brown III.
A losing record is a big deal when it happens to a revenue sport at the University of Texas. During Shaka Smart’s second season as head coach of the Longhorns, he led the team to an 11-22 record. It was and still is a disappointing mark considering he had a lottery pick on his team in Jarrett Allen, but the offseason has helped to mitigate much of the disappointment 2016-17 was.
