Some day in the future - maybe - Joe Wickline might very well look at this time in his life with wry humor. That day is probably not today. Or tomorrow, or next week. That said, I must admit that I find the legal sniping between Oklahoma State and Texas over Wickline's current job description quite amusing.
Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby: You got it right. Reaching that point was a tad clumsy, but in the end, you and your league got it right. But we all reserve the right to change our mind. Kind of like you. There will be no Big 12 championship game, and that's a good thing. There will also be no more "co-champion" in the league, and that's a great thing.
Did Barnes deserve to be fired? The answer to that question is subjective; rest assured, his replacement's resume will pale in comparison to his, so no need to talk about wins and losses and successes and failures here. Most would agree he was probably the best basketball coach in the school's history. He didn't cheat. He was loyal to his staff. He worked hard. A great many of his players cared a great deal about him.
