Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, offensive lineman Samuel Cosmi, linebacker Joseph Ossai, safety Caden Sterns, and cornerback D’Shawn Jamison all were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team, the conference announced Thursday.

Cosmi was a unanimous selection along with Oklahoma’s Creed Humphrey, Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace, and Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard.

Cosmi, Ossai, Sterns, and Jamison all enter the 2020 season as juniors, while Ehlinger enters as a senior.

Ehlinger has 33 starts in his career and was recently named to the Davey O’Brien Award watch list, given annually to the nation’s best college quarterback.

Cosmi is the only Longhorn of the group who redshirted his first year at Texas. He has 26 career starts and was second-team All-Big 12 in 2019.

Jamison has 10 career starts, including nine in 2019. He lead the Longhorns in interceptions last season with three.

Sterns was the Big 12 defensive freshman of the year, a Thorpe Award semifinalist, and a first-team All-Big 12 member in 2018. He played in nine games in 2019 and recorded 58 tackles, four TFL, and one sack.

Ossai has 15 career starts and led Texas in tackles in 2019 with 90. He was named the defensive MVP of Texas’ Alamo Bowl victory over Utah.
