Thursdays in the Hubble: Charting space force matchups for the Big 12 in Week 9

It's impressive as always how KU manages to do nothing right or well. Jalon Daniels seems like he's got the potential to be their best QB since they had an undersized but tough QB from Austin a decade and a bit ago. They actually have a decent group of receivers as well. But just a complete sh*t...

Examining the roots of Oklahoma State's defensive breakthrough

Rambo has not been as good as I thought he would be this year (although nobody would hate him being on their team). I assumed he was simply overshadowed by Lamb, but he hasn't taken the next step. Mims on the other hand shows signs of wrecking a lot of defenses over the next few years - he's the...

Examining the roots of Oklahoma State's defensive breakthrough

I think the hole OU dug was way too deep to survive a Bedlam loss. If OU drops another game. K-State would only need to go 2-3 against their remaining schedule, and Iowa State would only need to go 3-2 against the rest of their schedule. Plausible but not too likely that both would stumble so...

Who won Week 7 in the Big 12?

Deuce Vaughn as best skills player in the Big 12 shouldn't raise many eyebrows by this point. In a regular 13 game (with bowl) season, he'd be on pace for 800 yards rushing, 900 yards receiving, and 31 defensive jocks left on the hashmark. These are absurd numbers for anyone, let alone a true...

    Opt Outs on Texas' Schedule

Looks like one other RB has carries on the season for Baylor. I'm not sure who else they have at the position, but for an offense that was marginally functional to begin with that doesn't sound pretty.

Thursdays in the Hubble: Charting space force matchups in week 7

After getting Howard settled in , the most important thing for K-State is probably figuring out if they can get any production from wide receivers and maybe settling on an offensive line grouping. I think Tech vs WVU is intriguing for the reason that if WVU handles TTU comfortably they're...

The silly season is already upon us in the Big 12

So does anything less than winning out save Herman's job at this point? And is he gone even if he does win out?

Who won Week 5 in the Big 12?

Clearly it's the QB who led them to 50+ points vs UT who is the problem and not the defense that was basically what the entire spread offense movement of the last decade and a half was designed to exploit.

The silly season is already upon us in the Big 12

Do you care if he hangs it up after five or six years? With his track record you'd be playoff relevant by year 2 or 3 and would have lined up a natural successor by year 5. You just need to be sure the replacement is a Whittingham or Day and not a Muschamp.

    In retrospect

Might have missed my point there in response to the previous post: That point being that Sam Ehlinger is a sample of one for judging Herman on QB development.

    In retrospect

Recruiting sure. Development is a sample of one at this point. If Ehlinger were out for any reason and Thompson comes in and plays well (or Card or Jackson) then you could say QB development was a strength. Where would Ehlinger be today had he played for Riley or Gundy for four years?

    In retrospect

Without Sam Ehlinger's heroics in a number of games from the past few years does Tom Herman even make it to year 4? Understanding that with a different guy under center the games would have played out differently, without Sam does he have even one win over OU or OSU? Does KU win last year? This...

Who won Week 5 in the Big 12?

It is sort of interesting because OU has dug themselves a pretty decent hole with losses to two of the three on the list. Unless the wheels come off of everyone else, they'll have to be perfect the rest of the year, and I don't see perfection in that team. In particular I don't see much room for...

Peering through the Hubble: Space matchups in the Big 12 during the RRS weekend

Just extended him this year with a fairly substantial bump in salary; just short of $4 million per year but with some fairly decent incentives as well. That's not certainly the high end of coach salaries anymore, but it's somewhere in the 30-40 range which is at least decently competitive...

Who won Week 5 in the Big 12?

Herman seems to be the reverse Bear Bryant who could lose to your'n with his'n and turn around and lose to his'n with your'n. At least the next coach will have a nice locker room. The round robin between OSU, ISU, and K-State down the stretch is going to be fascinating as the league sorts...
