Beto O’Rourke says it is a fundamental “right” for individuals to live near their place of employment

I work with some pretty rich and, within their academic circles, some very influential people. With the exception of the chairperson, none of them live within about 15 miles of the university. When I worked in Austin, I lived closest to the office (8 miles), and our president lived in Ft...

This is incredible when you consider what that means historically.

Maybe it's the therapist in me, but I cannot read or watch things like that without putting myself into what I imagine their head space must have been at the time, and that is, clearly, a hopeless place. May God be merciful and grant eternal rest to all those who by no choice of their own left...

A high school classmate and teammate of mine has a surreal story. His father was was supposed to be on the next flight after the one that hit the Pentagon. He arrived early to the airport and so he took a seat in the boarding area. Needless to say, it took him several days before he was able to...

The Falling Man is such a dark article. I've read it once and never again.

Today should be a national holiday, and it should be dedicated to solemnity, service, prayer, fasting, and memory. That it isn't, that we think that a holiday should only be for celebration, is telling. Where was everyone and what was everyone doing when they first heard about what was...

    Bolton out.

As you may recall, I intentionally do not follow the news aside from what I happen to catch here and there. It looks on twitter (...) like that might be the case, and that the argument occurred last night, or something. Don't really know, don't really care, though I am happy to have the war hawk...

    Bolton out.

Is it true that he advised Trump against the Camp David meeting that was recently canceled?

    Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy

We have a couple of TMS machines in the lab I work in, and a lot of the papers we're producing right now are based in large part of of results from that particular treatment. Unfortunately, I don't know much more about TMS beyond what our scientists mention in their manuscripts (I'm a manuscript...

    Trump Wants to Nuke Hurricanes

This is actually one reason I am beginning to wonder if we know anything about aliens, time travel, etc. If we did, and he knew about it, I can't see him keeping that quiet. But then, maybe the intelligence and scientific community have opted instead not to tell him, which would be a prudent move.

    Really distracted today...wonder why?

It's nice of these Gameday a-holes to give Texas a little bit of the spotlight... at Gameday in Austin, TX. No SEC bias here.

    Really distracted today...wonder why?

This episode of Gameday deserves an Emmy.

    Really distracted today...wonder why?

This is a masturbatory piece written on LSU about tomorrow. I think they mentioned Texas a few times. One more reason to dismantle another overrated SEC opponent. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/27542102/the-four-keys-lsu-texas-everything-else-watch-week-2

Chappelle is a ****ing brilliant social commentator. (NSFW)

Well now I absolutely must know what you think. As for me, I have a very simple sense of humor, but I would describe it as smart. What I mean by that is that I don't find low hanging fruit humorous. Make me work a little for it. I also don't really go in for politics or dirty/shock stuff.

I've seen stand-up from all the people I bolded and can't say I was particularly impressed by any of them. There is one guy that I would fully recommend, though - James Acaster. He's a brit and has a 4-part stand-up special on Netflix. The first half-dozen times I watched it I was in stitches...
