AOC once again out there pissing off Jewish groups with her holocaust comments.

In a letter to Ocasio-Cortez, the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York said they were "deeply disturbed" by her comments which "diminishes the evil intent of the Nazis to eradicate the Jewish people." The group said they would be happy to assist Ocasio-Cortez in scheduling a visit to a concentration camp so she can learn about what happened during the Holocaust. The letter states:
Dear Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,
We are deeply disturbed by the language used in your recent Instagram live video which seeks to equate the detention centers on America’s southern border with Nazi-era Concentration Camps.
The terms “Concentration Camp” and “Never Again” are synonymous with and evocative of the atrocities committed by Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany, in which 6 million European Jews were systematically denied civil and human rights due to their race and ultimately murdered in a state-sponsored genocide. As concerned as we are about the conditions experienced by migrants seeking asylum in the United States, including family separation, unusable facilities, and lack of food, water, and medical resources, the regrettable use of Holocaust terminology to describe these contemporary concerns diminishes the evil intent of the Nazis to eradicate the Jewish people.
Since 1976, the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York has acted as a key resource to the New York Congressional Delegation on issues of concern to the 1.4 million member New York Jewish community. As our city is home to the largest Holocaust survivor community in the United States, we would be pleased to work with you to arrange a visit to a concentration camp, a local Holocaust museum, hear the stories of local survivors, or participate in other educational opportunities in the hopes of better understanding the horrors of the Holocaust.
Until that time, we urge you to refrain from using terminology evocative of the Holocaust to voice concerns about contemporary political issues.
Sincerely,
Charles Temel, President
Cheryl Fishbein, President-Elect
Michael Miller, Executive Vice President and CEO

ZOA National President Morton Klein, whose parents survived the Holocaust, said that Ocasio-Cortez should be "censured by her colleagues" in Congress over her remarks and that "she doesn’t belong in Congress making decisions on behalf of her fellow American citizens." Klein's full statement:

AOC’s ludicrous statements that the U.S. has a “Fascist” “presidency that creates concentration camps” to hold immigrant communities, and AOC’s invocation of the Holocaust-associated slogan “never again” with respect to the housing of immigrant minors – are abhorrent insults to the memory of the 6 million Jews and the millions of gays, gypsies, and others who were intentionally slaughtered, worked to death, starved, gassed and tortured in the real Nazi-Fascist concentration camps. The real story is that the U.S. government ran out of space and has to temporarily house minor teenagers who crossed illegally into the U.S. at an army base – something that former president Obama also did. Comparing this to the horrors of the Holocaust death camps is a sin. AOC must be censured by her colleagues for this mindless and moronic analogy. She doesn’t belong in Congress making decisions on behalf of her fellow American citizens.

AOC future reply later this morning...

“My words were taken out of context. The entire Jewish community, especially those in my district that are my largest donors, have my full respect.”

She's decided to turn down an offer to visit a concentration camp with a Holocaust survivor.

In her words, "Ocasio-Cortez responded by saying she was rejecting the offer as she believed it was part of how "the far-right manipulates these moments for political gain."

Ocasio-Cortez wrote: "The last time you went on this trip it was reported that you also met w/ fringe Austrian neo-Nazi groups to talk shop. So I’m going to have to decline your invite. But thank you for revealing to all how transparently the far-right manipulates these moments for political gain."

It's not uncommon in East Texas.
Don't forget about Oklahoma and Arkansas. AS for AOC, if she continues to alienate the Jewish Community, and seeing as to how many voters in the State of New York are of Jewish decent, she will continue to dig her grave as a one term Congresswoman..

You serious? The young vote nowadays, especially in NYC, loves that idiot. She's not going anywhere.

Of course he does, but he wasn't asking her to go with him nor planning on going. She was invited by a holocaust survivor to travel with her. King was simply suggesting she do it because he had and it opened his eyes. Naturally, she responded with what she always does, "it's a right wing conspiracy". She's ****ing stupid. King is a piece of ****.

She represents the 14th District. The Jewish population of that district is about 1%. She's not going to lose that district due to angry Jewish voters. She might not ever move up to the Senate or something, but she isn't going anywhere.

It is a district that is 50% Hispanic, 18% white, 16% Asian, and 12% black. It's not some old Jewish stronghold.

Yeah, but the well might run dry if she keeps isolating her largest donors, (in her words) the jews.

Not really thinking that she thinks about anything like that before she opens her mouth.

Sort of like another resident of DC we know about...

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I don't care that AOC used the wrong word. Whatever you want to call it, there is a humanitarian crisis going on within our borders, and our legislators are arguing about language and trying to get in the sickest burn. They don't need a trip to Israel, they need to take a trip to Clint.

Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas on Friday announced the deployment of 1,000 new National Guard troops to the border to help respond to the continuing new arrivals, which the governor said have amounted to more than 45,000 people from 52 countries over the past three weeks.

“The crisis at our southern border is unlike anything we’ve witnessed before and has put an enormous strain on the existing resources we have in place,” Mr. Abbott said, adding, “Congress is a group of reprobates for not addressing the crisis on our border.”

I’m not sure why we refuse to take them back to the border and dump them into Mexico. They’re responsible for letting them get here in the first place.
To do that you'd have to be ok with half a country of JGs talking bad about you despite doing the right thing for the country and it's citizens.

Google what "against the law" means. You might need a refresher course.

We "refuse" to do that because it's the law.

Republicans have asked for this be funded.
Democrats are the ones playing politics with this. First there was no crisis and now we are running concentration camps on the border. It’s ludicrous.

Sorry, but that's incomplete. Both parties own this crisis. Everyone is playing politics here. Passing bills requires negotiation and compromise. It's hard. It requires making tough votes, whipping, letting committees do their jobs, and sometimes not getting everything you want. It sets you up for primary challenges from hard-liners. It's hard to raise money on.

Whereas demagoguing an issue is easy. It's free, and you can raise money on it. Funny how there's more money in politics than ever, and yet legislators do less legislating than any time in memory.

I’m actually fine with legislators not doing much because it means they’re screwing up less. Republicans have at least been consistent on the border. It’s been an issue. They have a solution. It includes a wall among many other things and because it includes a wall, Democrats are demagoging the ever loving **** out of it.

You’re right in that they both own it. Your wrong in thinking both want to fix it.

Horse hockey. The GOP had the House, the Senate and the Presidency for two years. They had their chance and did not a thing. Not to mention the two or three times -- I've lost count frankly -- when Trump was presented with an immigration compromise, and each time walked away. Nobody in Washington really wants to do actual work to fix this issue, and that includes the president.

No arguments with that part. They should have struck while they could. That said, where we’re at now, it’s clear whats going on.
