Odessa Permian’s Garrett Porter was planning on taking several visits before making his college choice, but all that went out the window when he visited Texas over the weekend. Porter talked about his decision to become a Longhorn.
“It went good,” Garrett Porter said when asked about his junior day visit to Texas. “I just felt like that was where I needed to be. My dad said, ‘If you really like this place, then this is probably the place where you need to be.’ So we were really all on the same page at the same time.”
Porter had planned on making junior day visits to Arizona and Virginia in the upcoming weeks before his commitment to Texas on Sunday.
Porter chatted with Mack Brown during his visit.
“He just said that I was a good player and a good person, and that they wanted me to be a Longhorn,” Porter said.
He also got an opportunity to check out the campus and facilities that Texas offers to its student athletes.
“I love it,” Porter said about the campus and facilities. “Everything is really nice and modern, but everything at the school in kind of in that one area. So, it’s real nice.”
