Without getting too political, but trying to discuss this like an adult, the latest NCAA developments allowing athlete-students to be compensated for their likeness has helped ease a personal inner conflict when it comes to paying players.
For years all I could do was roll my eyes when I heard players weren’t compensated for playing college athletics. We can’t discuss how expensive college is in one conversation and then say free housing, tuition, and books doesn’t qualify as considerable compensation in another conversation. Athletes also receive ancillary benefits that less privileged students do not.
