Sophomore forward Kai Jones announced Wednesday he is declaring for the NBA Draft and plans to hire an agent, ending his collegiate career.

Jones played 53 career games in a Longhorn uniform, starting 14. He was named the 2020-21 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year after posting 8.8 ppg and 4.8 rpg.

According to ESPN’s most recent mock draft from Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz, Jones is a lottery pick with the potential to go 16th overall to the Indiana Pacers.

Should he be a first round pick, Jones would be the fifth first rounder out of Texas in the last six years joining Myles Turner, Jarrett Allen, Mohamed Bamba, and Jaxson Hayes.
