Nkwopara: ‘I felt like part of their family’

Texas’ second junior day is in the books, and the Longhorns walked away with three more commitments from the class of 2009. South Grand Prairie linebacker Patrick Nkwopara was one of a select few who received a scholarship offer and didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger on a commitment.
“It went great,” Patrick Nkwopara said when asked about his visit to Texas.

It didn’t take long for Nkwopara to give his verbal pledge to the Longhorns after talking with head coach Mack Brown.

“He told me that he really like my video,” Nkwopara said. “He said that I had good grades and was a good student, so they decided to offer me.”

Texas was the first school to offer Nkwopara a scholarship, but he was also drawing interest from Iowa and Texas Tech. When asked about what made Texas so special, Nkwopara said, “I felt like a part of their family. I also feel like I can be a great contributor to their team.”

Texas plans on using the 5-foot-11, 195-pound Nkwopara at either inside or outside linebacker on the next level.
