How Texas lost – Workman getting worked and no hitting down the stretch.
During the first game of the weekend series, Texas put up seven runs on Oklahoma State. The Cowboys got their revenge Saturday, putting up seven on the Longhorns. Texas was up 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth, but wasn’t able to score another run all game. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State put up seven runs over the remaining innings, including three in the bottom of the fourth, each of which were attributed to Texas starter Brandon Workman. But Workman didn’t get much help, as Texas totaled on four hits in the game and left 10 runners on base.
MVP on the mound – Tyler Bradford, RHP, Oklahoma State
Bradford gave up Texas’ one run in the fourth on an RBI double from Tant Shepherd, but that was all the Longhorns got on him. The Oklahoma State starter pitched seven and a third solid innings, keeping the Texas bats cold and striking out five. Bradford also gave up only two hits on the afternoon.
MVP at the plate – Dean Green, 1B, Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State went on its scoring spree in the fourth inning with a solo-shot over the right field fence by Green. Green also added an RBI single the next inning to give the Cowboys a 4-1 lead over the Longhorns. He finished 2-for-5 with 2 RBI, 1 R and 1 HR.
