Poll Report: Lucky Sevens

The Texas Longhorns moved up one more spot to No. 7 when the AP and Coaches polls were released on Sunday.
Thanks to Hurricane Ike, the Longhorns were off this week, but thanks to the USC Trojans, the Longhorns moved up one spot in the polls.

USC demolished Ohio State 35-3 Saturday night, causing the Buckeyes to fall from fifth in both polls to 13 in the AP and 14 in the Coaches. Because of that, Texas is now at No. 7 in the polls.

The Trojans secured their top spot in both polls and most first place votes, holding all but four first place votes in the Coaches and all but three in the AP. Oklahoma moves up to No. 2 after winning at Washington 55-14. Georgia, Florida, Missouri and LSU round out the six teams in front of Texas.

Along with Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas, fellow Big 12 team Texas Tech also makes it into the top 10 in the Coaches, sitting at 10 after a 43-7 win over SMU. Tech is No. 11 in the AP. One other Big 12 team also makes the Top 25, with Kansas remaining in the polls after a nail-biting 37-34 loss to South Florida. The Jayhawks are at 19 in both polls.
