D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers tweeted Wednesday afternoon that Kansas third baseman Skylar Messinger will transfer to Texas. Messinger received second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2021.

A four-year starter for the Jayhawks, Messinger posted career-best marks in several offensive categories in 2021. He hit .324/.398/.460 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with 69 hits, 39 RBI and two homers. He started 56 of 57 games for KU.

Messinger led the Jayhawks in batting average, games played, games started, at bats, runs (43), hits, doubles (19), RBI, and slugging percentage.

Texas’ 2021 third baseman, Cam Williams, was recently selected in the 19th round of the 2021 MLB draft by the Kansas City Royals.

Messinger is originally from Niwot High School in Niwot, Colo. He was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 22nd round of the 2017 draft.
