Sam Ehlinger was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Ehlinger started for most of his four seasons in Austin, passing for over 11000 yards and 94 touchdowns. He led the Longhorns to a 10-win season in 2018, culminating in a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia.

In 14 games in 2018, Ehlinger totaled 41 touchdowns including a five-touchdown performance versus Oklahoma. Ehlinger totaled 127 touchdowns in his four year career.

A lifelong Longhorn fan, Ehlinger committed to Texas in July of 2015 in the middle of his career at Westlake High School. During his freshman season, Ehlinger and former Texas quarterback Shane Buechele swapped the starting responsibilities several times, but Ehlinger took control of the job ahead of the 2018 season and held it until the 2020 Alamo Bowl.

Ehlinger is the first Texas quarterback selected in the draft since Colt McCoy in 2010.
