Every class starts somewhere. For Tom Herman, Texas’ 2021 class is starting in the heart of Dallas.
2021 Dallas Skyline WR Quaydarius Davis committed to Texas today. Davis chose the Longhorns over 18 other schools including Oregon, Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Texas A&M. Davis hauled in 29 catches for 702 yards and 8 touchdowns his sophomore year.
Joe Cook on the commitment: Lets not ignore the influence of former Skyline WR and Texas quality control coach Ra’Shaad Samples. He has been instrumental in helping Texas strengthen its presence in Dallas, and to have the first commit of the 2021 class hail from the Metroplex points to that.
Ian Boyd on how he fits at Texas: Davis is a fairly pure Z receiver prospect for Texas’ offense. His obvious strengths are blowing by coverage on deep routes and tracking the ball in the air, which fits well with the vertical nature of that position’s typical roles. Davis has a great first gear but also has a good feel for space and how to manage the alignment of the defender and get to the spot on the field his QB is expecting to find him in.
