The Texas staff is midway through the craziest recruiting month in my two decades in the industry. When Steve Sarkisian said Texas would be #AllGasNoBrakes at his introductory press conference, I’m not sure he knew how fitting it would end up being for the first month of in-person recruiting by the staff.
This weekend in Austin will rival last weekend. While the class of 2023 will not be represented like last weekend with Arch Manning, Rueben Owens and many of the top junior targets in Austin, the class of 2022 will take center stage this weekend with many top targets headed to the Forty Acres.
Normally June is IT’s favorite month because of me and Justin’s birthdays. This year there will be the added excitement of wall to wall recruiting weekends as recruits are allowed to interact with college coaches for the first time in well over a year.
The 2022 cycle has a long way to go but we’re deep enough into it to start getting a feel for how a good number of recruitments are trending. With that in mind, we’re going to get a little knee-jerky and make some bold declarations and predictions.
