After a big win over OU on Saturday from the Cotton Bowl, football isn't the only thing that's fun again. Recruiting is sure to see an uptick over the final stretch of 2019's class. On-field success coupled with the resources and amenities of Austin usually equals recruiting success. Tom Herman could always evaluate and recruit, now he's got a winning program to sell. AUSTIN, Tx -- Following two uninspiring performances to open the season, Texas decided to turn it on. And did they ever. UT dominated in all three phases of the game as the Longhorns knocked off No. 22 Southern California, 37-14 in front of a record 103, 507 fans on an electrically charged Saturday night at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Since DeLoss Dodds retired in October of 2013 the Texas athletic department has been run by two entirely disparate personalities in the distant and prickish Steve Patterson and affable former letterman Mike Perrin. Patterson took what few remaining BBs were left in the box and loaded them into buckshot for a weekend, non-hunting season dove hunt. Those little bastards had it coming.
LAKE TRAVIS — Garrett Wilson is still getting used to this recruiting thing. The multi-sport junior athlete from Lake Travis high school knew he had elite skills on the hardwood, but it was getting that much-needed self-confidence that he could produce on the gridiron that was lacking before last year.
AUSTIN -- While the Longhorns had an eventful April in recruiting, the momentum has carried over into May. Texas lands 4-star kicker Cameron Dicker today from Lake Travis. He'll join teammate Cade Brewer when the C/O 2018 enrolls next June. For Dicker, it was an easy choice.
