When Ricky Williams arrived at the University of Texas in the mid-1990s, more than a few people dropped upon his broad shoulders the moniker of "Little Earl," coined after the Longhorns' then only Heisman Trophy winner, Earl Campbell.
The ballroom was filled with football players, yet all I could think of was Dolly Parton's character, Truvy, in the now-old movie, Steel Magnolias. Weird where the mind goes when emotions, words, music and love intersect.
You get inside by mid morning during the dog days---18 holes wrapped by 10 am or so and away you go. Always reminds me of the song "what a day for a daydream".
