After a Big 12 regular season title and a national semifinals appearance, David Pierce’s Texas Longhorns finished ranked No. 3 in D1Baseball’s final top 25 rankings.

National champion Mississippi State finished No. 1 with runner-up Vanderbilt ending the season No. 2. The Longhorns finished one spot ahead of fellow semifinalist North Carolina State, who topped No. 5 Arkansas in the super regional round.

Three Big 12 teams finished in the final top 25. Joining the Longhorns were No. 11 Texas Tech and No. 15 TCU. Oklahoma State, who was No. 23 in D1’s final regular season rankings, dropped out of the top 25.

The No. 3 finish is a return to the final top 25 for the Longhorns. Pierce’s 14-3 2020 team was left out of D1’s final rankings from the pandemic-shortened season. The 2019 squad did not reach the postseason.

Texas’ last Omaha team, the 2018 Longhorns, finished No. 7 in the final D1 poll. The 2017 team, Pierce’s first as head coach of the Longhorns, completed the season ranked No. 23.
