Texas’ matchup with Kansas scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed to December 12, the Big 12 announced.
In a release posted on the official Kansas athletics website, the postponement was “due to KU’s inability to meet the minimum position requirements established by the Big 12 Conference.”
Big 12 teams must have at least 53 players available for a conference game to take place. Teams must also have at least seven offensive linemen, four defensive linemen, and one quarterback available for a contest to occur.
Kansas announced “the position group affected has a combination of injuries and contact tracing” in their release.
This is the first game on Texas’ “9+1” conference schedule affected by COVID-19. The reschedule date of December 12 was left open by the conference in case of delays. Baylor’s matchup with Oklahoma State is the only other game currently scheduled for December 12.
The kickoff time and television network for the re-scheduled matchup will be announced at a later date, the conference said.
Texas’ next game is scheduled for November 27 when they will host Iowa State.
