This is my personal opinion, not necessarily the staff’s. Obviously there will be considerable overlap as they target the best players the state has to offer.
Tom Herman created more work for himself for the 2021 cycle. The disappointing season put them back to square one after a momentum-building summer that saw the staff land 8 commitments (now down to 7 but with a chance for Quaydarius Davis to re-commit at some point). This cycle would have been on auto-pilot had Herman recorded back-to-back 10-win seasons.
Should fans be worried about where Texas currently sits in recruiting? Yes, and no. There is a lot of work to be done and competition is fierce, but a staff overhaul should help considerably. On top of the new staff look, Texas has some ballers ready to recruit on its behalf. In that regard things are much different than last cycle.
