Thomas Ashcraft: Bring on the Big 12

It would be an understatement to say that Cedar Hill offensive lineman Thomas Ashcraft had a big weekend. His Cedar Hill squad got the season started off right Friday night with a 23-16 victory over Colleyville Heritage. Then, Ashcraft received five written offers over the span of the next three days. The Big 12 schools are all over Mr. Ashcraft.
“I got my first letter Saturday from Nebraska. Then on Sunday, I got one from Kansas State and Oklahoma State. On Monday, it was Texas A&M and Oklahoma,” Thomas Ashcraft said. With those five offers, Ashcraft now holds offers from close to half of the Big 12 schools. He has visited each and every school that has offered, but nobody has taken the lead at this point in time. “I have visited all of them,” Ashcraft said. “They all have nice facilities and their campuses are nice. All of them have something good to offer, but they’re even right now.” Is Ashcraft expecting anymore offers anytime soon? “I think I may be getting one from Texas and maybe Texas Tech,” Ashcraft said. Ashcraft attended camp at UT over the summer, and he is drawing some interest from the Longhorns. However, the interest is minimal. “No, not really,” Ashcraft said when asked if Texas was showing a lot of interest. “They talk to my coach every now and then.” When it comes to recruiting, Ashcraft will probably have a ton of offers. What is it going to take to get a verbal from the big guy? “My relationship with the coaches and players will be important,” Ashcraft said. “The campus and how comfortable I feel will also play a role.” Ashcraft wants to make a couple of Big 12 contests during the fall. He specifically mentioned the Red River Shootout between Oklahoma and Texas, which is played in his hometown of Dallas.
