One of the key members of Texas’ 2021 baseball team will be back for 2022.

Redshirt junior right-hander Tristan Stevens announced he will return to the program for his senior season. Stevens, a first-team All-Big 12 selection, was 11-3 with a 3.31 ERA in 2021.

Stevens began his Longhorn career as a reliever before earning the No. 2 starter role ahead of the 2021 season. He became a consistent presence on the mound for the 2021 Big 12 champions, going 6-2 in conference play.

He went at least 6.0 innings in every start from March 13 to June 4, and never walked more than three batters in a game. He didn’t allow a walk in six starts. Stevens had a 1.15 WHIP over 111.1 innings.

Stevens’ return means Texas will likely have a starting rotation that includes him and two freshman All-Americans in right-hander Tanner Witt and lefty Pete Hansen.
