One of the top offensive lineman in the state of Texas for 2015, Spring Westfield’s Toby Weathersby, has de-committed from the Longhorns today, per multiple reports.
In a senior group high on potential but low on star power, Weathersby was one of the few highly rated prospects in what will be Charlie Strong’s first full class at Texas. Weathersby is versatile enough to play guard and tackle and was one of the first from ’15 to commit to Strong back in March during a Junior Day in Austin.
Weathersby took an official visit to College Station on Nov. 15th but was rumored that the staff at A&M didn’t have room at the time. OU was a factor early in his recruitment.
If there was a position Texas could afford a de-commitment from, it’s OL. This still leaves six offensive lineman currently pledged to the Longhorns – Patrick Vahe (C), Tristan Nickelson (T), Connor Williams (C/G/T), Garrett Thomas (T), Buck Major (T), and the newly committed Brandon Hodges (G/T).
It hasn’t been a good start to the dead period for the UT staff today. UT missed out on (IN) 4-star LB Darrin Kirkland earlier in the day. Distance was said to be the biggest factor in Kirkland choosing Tennessee over Texas.
